Our school
Since 2001, the Dutch School Silicon Valley (DSSV) has been offering Dutch language education for expat students to make possible a smooth return to the Dutch and Flemish school systems. Our mission is to provide high-quality Dutch language and cultural education. We do this by offering an extensive, challenging, and integrated Dutch language curriculum that meets the requirements of the Dutch and Flemish school systems.
Recognition and Accreditation
DSSV is a California recognized nonprofit or 501 (c) (3) organization with an operating budget that relies in large part on tuition fees. The school is part of the Dutch Education Abroad Foundation (Stichting NOB) and is recognized as a language center by the Codell Hull Foundation for International Education in New York. DSSV is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in the Netherlands.
Curriculum
DSSV offers a curriculum for children aged 2.5 to 18 and for adults. In addition, DSSV offers students age 16 and older the opportunity to take the CNaVT exam (Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language). This certificate allows students to study at a Dutch or Belgian college or university at local rates. Several US high schools offer the possibility for our students to qualify for foreign language credits through their DSSV education results.
The organization
Classes at the DSSV are taught by our qualified and passionate team of teachers. Each teacher teaches a combination group of several grades during the weekly lessons.
The teacher team is supported by the two directors of the school. The directors are responsible for the day-to-day business of the school. They handle extra care requests and coordinate to guarantee the quality of the curriculum.
The DSSV has an unpaid voluntary board that ensures the school remains focused on its mission and safeguards that our school meets all prerequisites for a high quality nonprofit school.
