Our school

Since 2001, the Dutch School Silicon Valley (DSSV) has been responding to the Dutch language needs of expat students. This makes it possible and easier to return to the Dutch school system. Our mission is to provide high-quality Dutch language and cultural education. We do this by offering a challenging, extensive and integrated Dutch language curriculum that meets the requirements of the Dutch school system.

Recognition and Accreditation

DSSV is a California recognized non-profit or 501 (c) (3) organization with an operating budget that relies in large part on tuition fees. The school is also part of the Dutch Education Abroad Foundation and is recognized as a language center by the Codell Hull Foundation for Internation Education in New York. DSSV is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in the Netherlands. Our teachers stand in front of the classroom with a love for the Dutch language and education and with their involved attitude make the difference for students between liking Dutch or having a 'must'.

The curriculum that DSSV offers is suitable for children aged 5 to 18 and adults. In addition, by completing our education, our teens may qualify for foreign language credits at various US High Schools. Finally, DSSV offers annually, to students aged 16 and older, the opportunity to take the CNaVT exam (Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language). With this certificate it is possible to study at a Dutch or Belgian college or university at local rates.

The organisation

The lessons at the DSSV are taught by our qualified, enthusiastic and driven group of teachers. Each teacher has 1 or 2 groups under his / her care during the weekly lessons.

The group of teachers is supported by the director of the school and the internal counselor. The headmaster is responsible for the daily ins and outs of the school. The Internal Supervisor takes care of the extra care requests and coordination for the purpose of guaranteeing the quality of the lesson.

The DSSV has an unpaid voluntary board that ensures that the school remains focused on its mission and ensures that all preconditions of a non-profit high quality school are met.
